Debbie’s Ovo-Vegetarian Journey

What is an Ovo-Vegetarian?

An Ovo-vegetarian refers to people who do not eat meat or dairy products but do eat eggs. I decided I am going to live a life of an Ovo-Vegetarian Phase 1 Dieter. I planned on giving up all my meats and seafood for a week. Well, it’s been over a month and it feels great!

Can I be an Ovo-Vegetarian on Ideal Protein?

Yes! There are, in fact, many food items you can eat that are both Ovo-Vegetarian and Ideal Protein friendly.

An example would be my, “Fridays Veggie Tofu Stir Fry”! It’s basically a Friday dish I created out of my favorite weekly veggies!

1 Blk Tofu (16 oz).

1/4 tsp. Ideal Salt

4 Cups of Veggies

Dash Pepper & Garlic powder

2 tsp. Olive Oil

(Optional) Chili pepper flakes, Chili garlic sauce and Yamasa shoyu

Heat pan with oil and stir fry your veggies

Add crumbled tofu to pan and add seasonings

Cook until veggies are done to your liking!

Quick, simple and easy!  Enjoy 😊

Tips: – I like to use medium to firm tofu.

My Thoughts…

At the end of the day, a plan is only a plan if you prepare! My biggest challenge has always been creating a dinner I loved that included protein. Tofu became my first love when I realized how easy and simple it was to prepare. Long gone were those days of waiting an hour or more for protein to finish! Eggs were a very simple solution to my protein problem that also didn’t take long to make. As an Ideal Protein dieter, it’s important to stay “sane” by creating tasty and new dishes! Will you really be satisfied if you eat the same thing every day with no variety? I’m sure there will be a time where eggs might not be on all my dishes but for now – I’m loving it! Stay tuned for future recipes and updates on how my journey is coming along.
